Exploring Google's X
We had the honor of hosting David Andre, Chief Science Officer at Google's X: The Moonshot Factory, at our brand-new office in CIC Rotterdam. This gathering brought together an mix of individuals – from our portfolio founders, donors, LPs, professors, and students, to many more. We all gathered to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship and delve into the implications of Artificial Intelligence.
David: ‘I’ve been working to bring AI to the physical world for 30+ years, and I’ve never been more excited and optimistic about its potential to help us find solutions to some of the world’s biggest challenges. ‘
Our fireside chat was expertly moderated by Deborah Nas, a distinguished professor of Strategic Design for Technology-Based Innovation at the TU Delft. Together, they delved into the projects and ambitions of Google's X, sharing valuable insights into their groundbreaking initiatives.
David informed us that the process of collecting real-world data for applying AI to significant challenges can be a quite complex and disorganized process. He also mentioned that this aspect is often overlooked. Over the course of many years, dedicated efforts have been made to engage with the real world, creating the essential framework that makes AI and data practical. This endeavor holds immense value as it serves as the primary arena for learning and the demonstration of human and business expertise.
Deborah Nas: ‘I fully agree with the vision that "Generative AI will democratize AI"!
Prior to the main event, we hosted an AI roundtable, which featured David Andre and top-notch professors from Erasmus Universiteit Rotterdam, TU Delft, and Erasmus MC specializing in AI. The roundtable was co-hosted by Joost Poort from House of AI. During the roundtable different insights were shared sparked an interesting discussion on the future of AI.
A Community United

In addition, we took a moment to thank the dedicated members of our Student Board of 2022/2023 for their commitment and full-time dedication over the past year. They have successfully facilitated an impressive number of pre-seed investments, orchestrated impressive founder and student events, and created valuable matches between startups and supporters. We're eager to see what they will accomplish next!
We would like to thank all those who attended, contributed, and engaged in enlightening conversations about the future of AI and its impact on the world.
